Chip's was founded in 1961 by Tom and Tina Chipman. Chip's started as a small neighborhood "drive-in" with three picnic tables in the dining room.

After outgrowing the original location, Chip's relocated in 1966 to its current location, a larger facility on the opposite side of the shopping center. The restaurant currently seats approximately 100 people.

Chip's barbecue sauces - Chip's Original (Since 1961) and our NEW Tom's Unique - are made daily and bottled on the premises. They contain no preservatives, and are shipped all over the country to former Central Arkansans who have relocated but still yearn for the taste of Chip's unique barbecue sauce.

Chip's is family owned and operated with many faithful customers and several employees who have worked for Mr. and Mrs. C. for over 20 years. Many customers who have moved away and come back in for a visit will remark, "Everything tastes just the way I remember." The Chipman family is commited to quality food and good, old-fashioned friendly service.

The meats(beef, pork, ham, chicken, turkey and ribs) are hickory-smoked. The hamburgers are 100% U.S. choice beef, ground onsite and chargrilled or fried. Homemade potato soup and chili, customer favorites,  are served year around. A very popular item are the Barbecue salads, a house salad topped with your choice of any of the smoked meats and served with homemade salad dressings on the side.  And, homemade cream pies and New York-style cheesecake are sold by the slice, or whole.
